 This work is dedicated to the photographic legacy of my late grandfather, Kurt A. Hirter, who took over 4,000 slides of his everyday encounters over more than 30 years. This extensive archive has been sorted, processed, questioned, and reinterpreted in two publications.

“Pt. I: Discoloured Emotions” reacts to each individual photo with the emotion felt during the exposure of the archive. Every emotion was assigned a colour and presented in the publication as a continuous gradient created with generative code across 304 pages.

“Pt. II: Discolored Archive” is a curated look at the archive that sheds light on the photographs, creating new connections and interpretations.
